Funk and Wagnalls- Encyclopedia, dictionary, atlas, thesaurus and all sorts of other useful tools. YOu have to sign up for a free membership--I assume you get pelted with email eventually-but I think it's probably worth it.

GeoBopological Survey- A sort of ... geological information site with attitude. It's primarily intended as a sort of quick facts site for kids needing to complete homework, but it's still kind of fun, if you like looking through state and provincial (yes, there's Canadian info, too) trivia.
