- Urban Primitive Body Design
- OK, properly speaking, it's a promo site for a tattoo/piercing studio. But there's a LOT of other stuff on their site.
- The Male Genital Modification section under "academia" was fascinating. In a frequently leg-crossing way.

- CoffeeKid
- Do you like coffee?
- I mean, do you REALLY like coffee? Do you want to know the best way to brew it? How to roast the beans at home? Where to find the unroasted beans?
- Then this site is for you.
- This guy really really REALLY likes his coffee, for all that he doesn't drink all that much any given day.

- DefenseLink
- Did you ever hit a site that made you certain that buried within it was actual information that someone wanted you not to see? That's what DefenseLink is like. It's the DOD publicity site, but there's stuff on contracts and processes and otherstuff in there as well.
- There's actual content in there, I just know it.

- Genetic Savings and Clone
- No, I didn't make a typo; that's the actual name of the business.
- Thing is, I can see a use for this type of thing with livestock or, most especially, endangered species. I can see that it might wind up being the only way to preserve some.
- It's that "Pets" division that just gives me the willies.

- Missyplicity
- Can I just say ... Eww. EWWW!
- I mean, pets die. That's the order of things. A clone isn't going to be the same, no matter how hard you try.

- RE: Michael Baden (Corpses, conspiracies, and coroners)
- Did you know that most coroners in the US are actually morticians and/or elected people? I didn't know that. There's no requirement in most states that the person conducting a legal post-mortem pathologic examination be in any way qualified to do so.
- From the article: "It's no accident that Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld and their Innocence Project are finding lots of people on death row who are scientifically proven to be innocent. It's not surprising to me at all that when the FBI lab analyzes rape kits sent to them by local police departments (many are sent after an arrest has been made), that they got the wrong guy in one-third of the cases. One wonders about all the convicted cases where there is no DNA analysis in the first place. The importance of regulating good forensic science and good police investigation is not only to get the guilty, but also to not get the innocent. That's a big issue now in the forensic science field. People who get capital punishment invariably have lousy lawyers because they can't afford anything better and it makes it very unequal."

- Teen wrestlers in Oklahoma charged with hazing
- One of these days, I'll understand what is supposed to be so "manly" about forcing objects into some other guy.
- And how it is that these people managed not to get charged with some degree of sexual assault.

- Top 25 College and University Team Nicknames
- Actually, my personal favorite is the Arkansas Tech Wonderboys. If nothing else, you'd have to develop a hell of a thick skin just to get through all the snickering and laughing from other teams.

- U.S. Mint: 50 States Quarters Program
- The official page from the US Mint detailing the program plan for the 50 quarters being issued to commemorate the various states' accessions to union. The whole thing doesn't end until 2008, at which point Congress may have actually decided on a standard redesign of the thing (they've been going at it for rather a while now). Interestingly, they haven't decided on all the designs yet; you can still submit designs for your state quarter, if it hasn't been issued yet. The winning design is selected by the individual state, and not the US Mint itself (although they may offer some technical advice on which designs are feasible).
