Diving into the gene pool - An interesting concept. I've actually seen the theory before, in a TLC show on sex and sexuality. (In which one gets to watch an actual human pene ejaculate inside an actual human vagina ... although that's rather beside the point.) In that show, they noted that the percentage of children not fathered by a woman's husband/mate varies with income in industrial society. At lower income levels, the percentage may be as high as 25%--the lower your income, the less likely the man is to have high-quality genes, the theory seems to run. At the highest income levels, it looks like the non-husband fathered level drops to about 5%; there's a stronger correlation between "high-quality" genes and the ability to provide.
