- If the great movies had been web sites...
- an interesting argument. (And yes, I did choose this classification quite deliberately.) (Yes, I'm being pissy. Ya wanna make something of it?)

- Arizona Statehood Day (ChaosInAustin Fotojournal: Guest Entry by Janet)
- The first part of the entry is a rant by Special Guest Editor Janet about what SHE would celebrate on February 14 instead of the mercantilist thing that sits there now. The latter parts of the entry are Brian, ChaosInAustin himself, talking about his week.
- The pictures of the fields of hearts are ... um .... um ... why would you DO that? (Then again, they did all used to be flamingoes...)
- NOTE: heavily illustrated, may be slow loading. Also, this link undercuts the frameset, and the previous/next entry links at the bottom either won't work or will work oddly.

- Could I be paid for this? (C. Jamieson, iTHINK 013, February 17, 2000)
- "Seriously. James? Hemmingway? Winterson? Atwood? Browning? Whitman? Did these people write books expecting NOT to be paid? Did they produce art with nothing but self satisfaction in mind? How awful that would have been for those of us who might have missed turning points in our development without the influences of some of those – ahem, "whores".[...] It’s sad that the medium – or perhaps it’s the genre and thus my dissatisfaction at what passes for mainstream "community" within my ranks – devalues itself so. What is the currency of value for what we do? Hits? Self-satisfaction? Altruism? Money? Fame? [...] I find that it excites me to makes things or do things that people will like. That people will value. Have I sold out?
- "Ha ha ha. Not in your lifetime, Bub.
- "Those who chose to address that as some form of hit "slutting" (you will note the "community" is rife with metaphors that refer to prostitution, exploitation and sex acts – it’s rather bizarre, really) make me wonder why they are so concerned and why they wish to press upon me their own version of what constitutes "pure" journaling."

- Dialogue (Ri, One Long Autumn)
- I like this entry. I think, however, that I'm not remotely getting from it what others are. Nonetheless, I'd imagine that there are times when anyone who writes feels like their words are talking back.

- Everybody Loves Stee!
- OK, the proper title of the entry is "I smell scandal", but that wouldn't have been nearly so descriptive.

- Only one crime (Headspace, Saundra Mitchell)
- The first part contains an interesting take on the Mary Kay Letourneau case. I don't happen to entirely agree with it--with most of it, but not all of it.
- The second part, starting with "The second precedent" is, unfortunately, all too true.

- This is not my coming-out story (Paul Kidd, dies irae)
- "I don't want to lend any credence to the Norman Vincent Peales of this world, but the change in my own opinion of myself was reflected, noticeably, in others.
- When Paul and I were together I told him this story and, in his own way, he went through the same transformation. We gave it a name: gorgeoconversion. The moment of becoming gorgeous."
