The 911 Report: A Graphic Adaptation By Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colon - Slate Magazine
I will admit, I don't quite know how I feel about it. It's truly, oddly absorbing, in a way that the actual text report isn't. Yet it also seems a bit distancing in a different way, making it almost feel like it didn't happen to real people.
The sound effects text really doesn't help, and I think it was a bad decision to include them. It doesn't remotely convey what it must have been like to hear them -- what it was like to hear the tower collapse on live television, even. The "BLAMM!" of the plane crashing into the Pentagon makes it seem like we're almost watching an old Batman episode, and any minute, the Joker will leap out of the ruins to get smacked around by the dynamic duo.
That said, it's an interesting way to think about and depict a dry governmental report.
