Media Relations: media commentary and criticism

queer eye for irony
January 11, 2005

Tuesday's best bets on TV (Detroit Free Press, January 11, 2005) ... "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" (10 p.m., Bravo). Season premiere. Carson Kressley and the other style-happy members of the Fab Five come to the rescue of Ray, a U.S. soldier headed for Iraq in two weeks and an 18-month separation from his wife, Marie, and their baby daughter. The stunner? Ray's marriage to his wife in her native Colombia is not being recognized by the Army. So in a rush to the altar, the Fab Five transform what would have been a simple civil ceremony into a splashy wedding and tearful farewell to remember.

A bunch of queer guys helping a soldier get married. And none of them could be a soldier for these United States or get married in New York state.

Given that it's "Queer Eye", probably a rather small anvil, all things considered. But still.
