Court to reconsider whether prisoners can mail semen to spouses: you know, somehow, I just missed this decision when it was first made.
I will admit, I can't see what possible security violation would be involved in letting a prisoner wank into a cup. That said, I also don't see why the court doesn't say, "Well, some rights are surrendered when you go to prison, and in the case of a prisoner with a life sentence, the right to procreate is one of them." (It's also irresponsible to bring into the world a child you have no possible means to care for, but I suppose that's a side issue, really.)
It would be interesting to know what "terrorist threats" the man was accused of making. It's a throwaway at the end of the article, but given those limited facts, it does seem as though California's three-strikes law is, once again, producing a massively disproportionate sentence.
