Activists see state as debate barometer.

Well, there's a depressing thought.

So, a prediction: Traverse City and Kalamazoo will pass ordinances that bar city officials from passing measures that protect gays from discrimination. Huntingdon Woods will enthusiastically reject an antidiscrimination ordinance.

And contrary to popular belief, it won't even be close, because this is the sort of thing that polling never gets right.

I hope I'm completely wrong. I hope that all those cities and towns indignantly throw this AFA-created thing back in their face.

But I don't expect it.
